A Day in Our Minds
By Natalie
I’ve seen some things like this floating around online and I wanted to write up my own version. It’s so easy to lose sight of what matters in this season. All I should be worried about is that my baby feels safe, comforted, has his needs met and is able to build a secure attachment. A day in our minds from the perspective of mom and baby.
Mama: I have multiple half finished tasks all over the house.
Link: Mama is always there when I need her.
Mama: I wanted to get this done.
Link: Mama picked me up when I was crying and danced with me in the living room.
Mama: I need a shower. Oof look at my hair.
Link: I love when mama wears me. I love being close to her and hearing her heartbeat.
Mama: My body is not the same after carrying two big babies.
Link: Mama is so cozy. I love our snuggles.
Mama: He wants to eat again?
Link: I was feeling a little hungry and mama let me know that she will always feed me when I’m hungry.
Mama: I need to tidy up.
Link: Mama laid next to me and talked to me and sang to me. I love all the sounds she makes when she plays with me.
Mama: He’s up already?
Link: Where am I? When I fell asleep mama was holding me. Oh there she is. Hi mama! I missed you.
Mama: You can do it, I know tummy time is hard work.
Link: I don’t like this position but mama is with me and picks me up after it gets too hard.
Mama: I need to respond to that message. Did I txt my sister back? How long ago did she message me? Was it yesterday or the day before? Wait what day is it?
Link: Mama is rocking the bouncer with her foot while she’s folding clothes. I don’t want this paci anymore I want the real thing. Mama pick me up please I’m done in here.
Mama: I need to do the dishes.
Link: Mama held me, locked eyes with me and made me feel safe. She rocked me until I fell asleep.
Mama: I barely got anything done today and my hair never made it out of the clip.
Link: I had a great day with mama.
Mama: Should he be up for this long in the middle of the night?
Link: Mama is always here when I need her. I’m safe here.
